Terms of service
Version 2026-08-27b · Last updated 27 August 2026
The short version. We generate a network design from the information you give us. It is a reference document — a professional starting point, produced by a deterministic engine, not a substitute for your own judgement. Verify it before anything is installed or configured from it.
It is a design, not a configurator. We plan the VLANs, the addressing, the switch sizing and the port allocation, and we set them out as documents. We do not configure your equipment and we do not produce configuration files — setting the kit up, and proving it works, is yours.
Each design costs a flat fee and includes five changes. Everything you generate is yours to use with your clients, for ever.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are between you (the business using Network Designer) and Clavia Ltd, company number 09537694, registered at George Court, Bartholemews Walk, Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, CB7 4JW. By creating an account you accept them.
Network Designer is sold business-to-business. If you are buying as a consumer rather than in the course of a business, tell us before you buy — different rules apply and we will deal with you fairly under them.
2. What the service does
You enter the rooms and networked devices for a project. Our engine computes a network design from that — VLANs, IP addressing, switch sizing and port allocation, Wi-Fi and routing — and produces three documents: a client-facing handover pack, a topology drawing and a device IP schedule.
The design is deterministic: the same table always produces the same design. The engine follows fixed rules; it does not guess, and it does not invent your addressing.
What it does not do is configure anything. The documents describe the network we have designed; they are a guide for you, or your engineer, to configure the equipment from. No part of the service touches your hardware.
3. What the service does not do — read this one
- Every design is for reference only. It is a guide, to assist you in planning and configuring the network. We accept no responsibility for a design that is installed, or configured from, without being verified first by a competent person.
- It is a network design, NOT a configurator. We compute the VLAN plan, the IP addressing, the switch sizing and the port allocation, and we present them as documents. We do not configure, commission or test any equipment, and we do not generate configuration files, scripts or backups. Applying the design to real hardware — correctly, and proving it works — is entirely yours.
- It is not a substitute for a qualified engineer. The design is a professional starting point based solely on the information you enter. You remain responsible for the installation you build.
- You must check the design thoroughly before building from it, and satisfy yourself that it suits the property, the client and the equipment actually being installed.
- Rubbish in, rubbish out. We compute from your table. If a device is mis-typed, missing, or put in the wrong category, the design will faithfully reflect that.
- We do not survey the site, verify cable routes or distances, check power or containment, assess structural or fire-stopping requirements, or carry out any electrical design.
- Equipment models and any prices shown are indicative, researched from public sources, and go out of date. Confirm them with your distributor before ordering.
- Compliance with building regulations, wiring regulations, fire safety and any other legal requirement remains entirely yours.
If something in a design looks wrong to you, it may be — email [email protected] before you build.
4. Your account
Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per business; do not share logins. We may suspend an account that is being used abusively, to break the law, or to resell the service.
5. Price, payment and changes to a design
- A design costs a flat fee per design, shown before you pay, exclusive of VAT. VAT is added at checkout where it applies.
- Each design includes five changes. You can reopen a design, edit the table and regenerate it five times at no extra cost. Every version is kept, so an earlier document remains downloadable exactly as you delivered it.
- The project name and property address are fixed once a design exists. A different property is a different design.
- Once the five changes are used, a further payment updates the same design and includes another five.
- A discount code may reduce or remove the fee. Codes are ours to issue, limit and withdraw.
6. Refunds
We generate the documents as soon as you pay, so a design cannot simply be returned. That said, we would rather have a happy customer than your fifty pounds: if the pack fails to generate, or is materially wrong through our fault, tell us within 30 days and we will fix it or refund you. We do not refund a design that was generated correctly from a table you later changed your mind about — that is what the included changes are for.
7. Your work and our software
Your project data is yours. The generated packs are yours to use, brand, edit and give to your clients, with no time limit and no further fee. We claim no ownership of your designs or your clients’ information.
The software, the engine and the document templates are ours. You may not copy, resell, sublicense or reverse-engineer them, or use the service to build a competing product. You may not systematically generate designs on behalf of third parties as a bureau service without our written agreement.
8. Availability
We aim to keep Network Designer available and we keep every document you generate. We do not promise a particular uptime, and we may change or improve the engine over time — which is precisely why a document you have already generated is stored and served back to you unchanged, rather than rebuilt.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, and because the fee is small relative to the value of the projects you use it on:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of contracts, loss of goodwill, or the cost of remedial works.
- Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £250.
- We are not liable for a loss arising because a design was built from, or configured from, without first being verified; because it was treated as a device configuration rather than as a design; or because it was generated from an inaccurate or incomplete table.
You should carry your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance appropriate to the work you undertake. We are not a substitute for it.
10. Distributors
If a distributor introduced you and you agreed to share your designs with them, what they see is set out in our privacy notice, and you can stop it at any time in Settings. Your agreement with a distributor about pricing, supply or support is between you and them — we are not party to it.
11. Ending it
You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account whenever you like. We may end your access if you break these terms materially and do not put it right after we ask. Your right to keep and use the packs you have already paid for survives either way.
12. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. We may update these terms; if a change is material we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
